Lord of the Flies
Chapter 12
Cry of the Hunters
Jack's Perspective
This is a quite interesting episode. The only problem I have with it is that, we did not kill Ralph and used a stick sharpened with both ends, to create another lord of the flies. Now some people I also have a problem with are Sam and Eric. Although the true antagonist is obviously Ralph, Sam and Eric were quite an annoyance. They were loyal to Ralph, and stuck to Ralph until we forced them to do otherwise. Apparently, they did not think Ralph was a very good leader, (a true fact) and they were beaten until they joined the true tribe, what’s ironic is that they helped Ralph even after they joined my tribe. Even when they were part of our tribe, they still were maddeningly loyal to Ralph. They told or to put it more precisely spoiled out well thought of plans to Ralph, and also Sam gave Ralph a piece of pig meat, an outrage! They even explained how my elite troops would spread out in an organized cordon, and communicate using ululation signals. Later I had to force the twins to reveal Ralph's location, the only good thing that came out of them! Ralph hid in a ticket in the start of this episode. As I said before, I and Roger decided to use Ralph’s head as a nice offering to the beast. Now when Ralph fled to the beach, on the way there he saw the beast’s offering so apparently the beast did not enjoy the gift, for it was half rotten, and not eaten. Maybe it was worried that it would give it a distended belly. Now while the naval officer was with all the boys, I was quite uncomfortable when he asked who was leader. Of course I was leader, but then he wouldn’t like the fact that I had become a savage, by killing two people. One of the stupid littleuns, named Percival forgot his name, that’s a disgrace. Even though I was responsible for the events that took place in the island, Ralph surprisingly took full responsibility. The Naval officer (wearing a row of eqauletts, and with a drill uniform) was quite disappointed in the unorganized way the boys had been living. He expected that British boys would take better care of themselves.
